TRAMPOLINO GRADO

TRAMPOLINO GRADO

A proposal by Architect & Friends that reimagines a historic diving platform as a new landmark for open‑water swimming in the Adriatic reviving a once cherished 20th‑century symbol of coastal life lost to storm damage in 2012.

The design concept is rooted in the idea of virtual swimming lanes that extend from the end of the pier into the sea, forming the guiding geometry for the platform's architecture. These lines shape a sculptural tower that accommodates a main deck, a high diving board, two lower diving levels and integrated seating and sunning areas. Clean, elegant lines imbue the structure with visual lightness, evoking the presence of birds skimming the nearby lagoon and anchoring it within Grado's coastal landscape.
Adaptability and seasonality are integral to the concept: the platform's flexible system allows it to respond to tidal variation and be pulled into harbour during winter months, weaving practical resilience into a design that celebrates both sporting tradition and the dynamic marine environment.
